The simply designed Casio G-Shock Classic digital watch for men offers shock resistance that's great for your most vigorous sporting activities. The durable rectangular black watch case measures 45mm wide (1.77 inches), and it's matched to a comfortable black resin sports strap. The face has two windows that show time (bottom) and date (top) as well as a circular display for the stopwatch function, which can measure events down to 1/100 of a second for the first 60 minutes (and down to 1 second from 60 minutes to 24 hours). It also offers elapsed and split time modes, and 1st-2nd place times, and it includes a countdown timer with a 24-hour range. Other timekeeping features include a multi-function alarm, hourly time signal (which can be turned off), and 12/24-hour formats. This timepiece also features an Auto Calendar (pre-programmed until the year 2039), ±15-second accuracy per month, Afterglow backlighting, and water resistance to 200 meters (660 feet)--which will stand up to the rigors of recreational scuba diving.

I've probably gone through five of them. With the earlier models I was always having to replace the watch band because I brutalized them so badly on the jobsite. The most recent one I bought was the DW9052. Good watch and the band lasted very well, but the battery is starting to go so I've ordered a new Gulfman. The problem with the DW9052 watch is that the battery is only rated for two years. Granted, I got nearly four years out of it, but I'm buying the Gulfman this time because it has a battery that is rated for seven years. Of course, it costs twice as much, which proves you get what you pay for. (Never pay to have a battery replaced in a G-shock, since they can't guarantee it will remain waterproof after they open the watchcase.) G-shocks in general are the sturdiest watches ever built. Amazon customer service is pretty good, the watch has a 1 year warranty, and by paying with American Express, Amex adds another year to the warranty. So I figure I'm covered if any issues from the negative reviews happen upon me. I'm not a big guy and was concerned that the watch might look like a hockey puck on my wrist. My wrist measures about 7" in circumference. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the watch looks on my wrist. So pleased that I ordered a second watch for my son. 07/08/09 - Still going strong after almost 1-1/2 year. If you know how to wind/care for mechanical watches you should be fine. The only down-side are the straps. They are somewhat cheaply made, but nonetheless the watch looks awesome. Overall its a good watch specially for the price given. However, for various reasons, I've been disappointed with the watch's performance. I am aware the watch is not quartz and, as such, it's necessary to wind it. However, even when it's wound, it frequently stops and I have to tap on the dial to get it working again. Even when it's wound and is running, it often loses time. The instructions suggest winding it once a day, but I find myself having to wind it more often most days. It is reasonably priced for a skeleton watch, it's decorative and I enjoy watching the gears turn. However, as a timepiece, I find it lacking.
